Video Surveillance Footage Leads to Arrest of Suspected Purse Snatcher

Police in Austin, Texas have arrested Steven Keller and charged him with the aggravated robbery of a woman outside a local bar. Last week, Merri Gale Hieger was walking alone near the Liberty Bar on East 6th Street when Keller approached her, brutally punched her in the face, then ran off with her purse. Hieger was knocked unconscious and later awoke with broken teeth and eight stitches on her face.

After footage of the crime from the security surveillance camera installed on the outside of the bar was released, police received numerous tips from people who recognized Keller as the suspect in the video. Austin police are now crediting the clarity of this surveillance footage with providing the evidence necessary to make a quick arrest in the case.
